About Jess

I'm Jess, an integrative counsellor and the founder of Space to Be.

My journey into this work began with a deep curiosity about people - our stories, our relationships, and the wider systems and experiences that shape who we become. I originally planned to study international relations and politics, drawn to understanding people and the world around us, but over time I realised that understanding people intellectually and understanding them relationally are very different things.

My own experience of counselling became a turning point and led me towards this work in a much more personal and human way. It showed me the value of having a space where we can be honest, explore what we carry, and feel truly seen.

Authenticity sits at the heart of how I work. I don't believe therapy should feel distant or impersonal, which is why I aim to create a warm, welcoming environment where you can arrive exactly as you are. I’m interested in the conversations that often sit beneath the surface- the parts of ourselves we may hide, question or struggle to understand.

Alongside my work as a therapist, I have always been passionate about connection and community. I’m interested in how our experiences are shaped by relationships, culture, identity and the wider world we live in. This curiosity is what inspired me to create Space to Be Together - a community for therapists built around the belief that those who spend their lives caring for others also deserve spaces of support, connection and belonging.

Whether through therapy, community or conversation, the thread that connects everything I do is the same: creating spaces where people can feel more understood, more connected, and more able to be themselves.

How I Work

I believe therapy works best when it is built around the person in front of me. While you may arrive with one particular concern, our experiences are rarely isolated. What we struggle with is often connected to our relationships, life experiences, beliefs about ourselves and the ways we have learned to navigate the world.

I work relationally, which means I place a lot of importance on the relationship we build together. I trained as an integrative counsellor, meaning I have experience across a range of therapeutic approaches that can be adapted to your individual needs rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.

Our work may involve exploring childhood experiences, attachment, relationships, patterns of coping, or the ways past experiences continue to show up in the present. I often focus on the here-and-now, noticing what emerges in the therapy room and exploring how familiar patterns may be reflected in your current experiences.

I also work with the whole person, recognising that our bodies hold experiences too. Alongside talking and reflection, I incorporate awareness of emotions, sensations and the body to support a deeper understanding of yourself beyond thoughts and words alone.

I welcome conversations around identity, meaning, spirituality and existential questions, as well as the more difficult or hidden parts of being human. Therapy is not about fixing something that is broken - it is about creating space to understand yourself with curiosity, compassion and honesty.

My hope is that therapy becomes a space where you can develop a more authentic relationship with yourself, understand your patterns, and move towards a life that feels more connected and meaningful.

Qualifications & Professional Development

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working within their ethical framework and commitment to safe, ethical and professional practice.

My counselling training began at West Suffolk College, where I completed my counselling diploma, before going on to achieve a First-Class Honours degree in Counselling at the University of East Anglia.

Alongside my core training, I continue to develop my knowledge and skills through ongoing professional development. My additional training and areas of interest include:

  • Suicide and self-harm awareness
  • Existential approaches to therapy
  • Neurodivergence and neurodiversity-informed practice
  • Grief and bereavement
  • Shame and self-worth
  • Anxiety and uncertainty in the context of global instability, conflict and social change

I believe that continued learning is an important part of being a therapist. Staying curious, reflective and open to new perspectives allows me to continue offering thoughtful, informed support to the people I work with.

I am also committed to ongoing reflection around the wider contexts that shape our experiences, including relationships, identity, culture and the systems we live within.
